The Mississippi State campus is alive with the excitement of a new football season. Quarterback Chris Relf is talented and is a dual threat. He isn't a great passer though and doesn't have too much great options. Back Vick Ballard takes the pressure off Relf and can run over or around defenders. He is helped by fullback Sylvester Hemphill and others alike. Wide receiver Chris Smith is a speedy option for Relf with great hands. Junior Arceto Clark and senior Robert Elliot are the other wide out guys. Tight end Marcus Green will have to replace Brandon Henderson who left to the NFL. On the offensive line, prospect Derek Sherrod is gone at tackle but it still has talent with Addison Lawrence and sophomore guard Gabe Jackson. On defense the line is a definite strength. Senior Sean Ferguson pressures the backfield from the side while tackles Josh Boyd and Fletcher Cox stuff running holes in the middle. The linebacker position is the biggest question for the Bulldogs. Chris White and K.J. Wright are gone leaving the three starters unexperienced. The secondary is good thanks to cornerbacks Chris Broomfield and Jonathan Banks. Broomfield shadows all his guys and has good hands for a cornerback. He has to take on all the talented recievers in the SEC. Special teams is a question without kicker Sean Brauchle and punter Heath Hutchins.

Heisman Hopeful: Vick Ballard
SEC Rank: 4th
