Oregon, 42 No.6 Cal, 3
Oregon pulled another top 25 upset over No. 6 Cal in one of the biggest upsets of the season. Jeremiah Masoli showed up against Cal after being a bust in his first few games. I personally thought Cal was overrated and they proved that.
No.11 Virginia Tech, 31 No.9 Miami, 7
Ah, apparently the 'Canes aren't back as they routed by the now ACC favorite Virginia Tech. We thought this would be a preview of the ACC championship. Hopefully not for Miami.
South Florida, 17 No.18 Florida State, 7
Miami-Viriginia Tech wasn't the only big upset of the ACC as South Florida stunned Florida State in Tallahassee one week after smoking BYU. This has been the story of '09 this season.

2009-2010 College Basketball Preview: Big Ten

1. Michigan State Spartons Bold Prediction: The Spartons will make the National Championship.
Even though the Spartons lost a few players they still have Raymar Morgan and Kalin Lucas(right), two guys who have experience in the NCAA tournament. The Spartons have experience and talent and will challenge for a National Championship again.
2. Purdue Boilermakers Bold Prediction: The Boilermakers will surprise everyone. Expect a Final Four appearance. Robbie Hummel makes Purdue a top 5 team. He has a will to win and has amazing talent. If Purdue makes a Final Four appearance expect Player of the Year talk for Hummel.
3.Minnesota Gophers Bold Prediction: Expect a second round finish for the Gophers.
It's Tubby Time! The Gophers are becoming one of the better teams in the pretty challenging Big Ten. The Gophers believe they have found a star in Lawrence Westbrook. He'll team up with Trevor Mbakwe, a nice transfer, and the other Gophers to make a tournament appearance. Not much after that though.
4.Ohio State Buckeyes Bold Prediction:A first round exit for the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes season ended early with a loss to Siena in the first round of the tournament. Except for standout junior Evan Turner the Buckeyes don't have enough evidence to change that. If they can get Zisis Sarakpoulos to open up down low they may get a second scoring option for Turner.
5. Michigan Wolverines Bold Prediction: A NCAA tournament appearance.
On paper the Wolverines look like a lock for the Big Ten Title. DeShawn Sims is a Big Ten player of the year canidate and Manny Harris is a decent number two scoring option. A decent recruiting means a bright future for the Wolverines. The Big Ten is a tough conference nowadays but Michigan will look pretty good.
6.Illinois Fighting Illini Bold Prediction:First round tournament exit.
Wanted:Another another scoring option for star guard Demetri McCamey. D.J. Richardson could be the Big Ten's best freshmen but Illinois will have trouble down low. Realistically, all the Illni need to do is get an impact forward and they will be a lock in the Top 25.
7.Northwestern Wildcats Bold Prediction: A long run in the NIT.
The 'Cats have fans believing now. Kevin Coble will finally get more help from top shooter Alex Marcotullio and guard/forward Drew Crawford. The Wildcats will be improved, expect another strong season in Evanston.
8. Wisonsin Badgers Bold Prediction: NIT Final Four apparence.
Wisconsin left their fans hanging after a second round loss to Xavier and two other losses: scorer Marcus Landry and rebounding power Joe Krabbenkoft. A bright spot: Trevor Hughes points per game will improve without Marcus Landry. As bad as 20 wins last year for Badgers fans was this season will be even worse.
9.Indiana Hoosiers Bold Prediction:Weak NIT appearance.
Last year was last year for the Hoosiers. After winning just 6 games last year and going 1-17 in the Big Ten the Hoosiers stacked up their weak roster with young players like guard Maurice Creek and Jordan Hull. Also Georgetown transfer Jeremiah Rivers is now eligible.
10. Penn State Nittany Lions Bold Prediction: Sweet 16 in NIT.
The Nittany Lions had a considerable dream season if they wanted to win the NIT tournament. Now they are looking for a NCAA tournament appearance. Taylor Battle, a bruising guard and Andrew Jones gives the Lions a few scoring options, but not enough for a true season.
11. Iowa Hawkeyes Bold Prediction:10-15 wins.
Iowa won a respectful 15 games last year but went a bad 5-13 in Big Ten play. Freshmen Jake Kelly and Matt Gatens are under huge pressure practically leading the Hawkeyes. The Big Ten is too tough for the Hawkeyes, out of conference play is their only hope.
Bold=All Big Ten Team

Ole Miss Falls, Missouri Rises

Is Ole Miss overrated? The Rebels made a strong case losing to unranked South Carolina 16-10. Ole Miss's offense was horrible and despite a pretty good game by the defense the Rebels went. Meanwhile, Missouri and Blaine Gabbert took down Nevada easily posing that they should earn a chance in the Top 25. But, before they can do that they got to beat somebody.

Week 3 Report

Week 3 Report
Michigan, 38 No.18 Notre Dame,34
Let's call this the rise of the Wolverine and the fall of the Fighting Irish. Tate Forcier, the quarterback of Michigan had a Heisman Trophy type game. This just shows that Notre Dame was ranked outrageously high for their talent.
Houston, 45 No.5 Oklahoma State, 35
This game leaves us with one question: how many upsets will shake the BCS scene. First it was BYU taking down Oklahoma and now this. Houston's quarterback Case Keenum(right) threw for 366 yards against Oklahoma State's weak defense.
No. 3 USC, 18 No. 8 Ohio State, 15
Once again USC has proved they are the better team with another win against Ohio State even without a great quarterback in freshmen Matt Barkley. Does this mean Ohio State has a chance to beat out Penn State for the Big Ten championship?

USC vs. Ohio State Preview

Here's my preview for one of the biggest games of the season:
Week 1: USC,56 San Jose State,3
Week 1:Ohio State,31 Navy,27
Both teams have young quarterbacks as starters, plus some losses on defense. But I still like USC in this one, they are loaded at the running back position and still have a great D led by safety Taylor Mays(right). Predicted Score:28-24, USC.

Kiffin's First Game of College A Success

Lane Kiffin former coach of the Oakland Raiders first game in college football will be put in the success bucket as they routed Western Kentucky 63-7. But the question: Does Kiffin and Tennessee have enough to contend with other schools in the SEC. Other news in college football: Iowa survives Northern Iowa with a blocked field goal 17-16, Oklahoma State proves they aren't overrated beating 13 ranked Georgia 24-10, Oregon halfback suspended for season.

Official College Football Preview:Ohio State Buckeyes

10. Ohio State Buckeyes Key Game:USC, 9/12/09
Every year Ohio State loses so much talent. Chris Wells, Malcolm Jenkins and Todd Boeckham. Now they get sophomore halfback Daniel Herron, safety Kurt Coleman to replace Malcolm Jenkins and quarterback Terrelle Pryor. That means Ohio State is young and will hopefully be young for one to two more years after 2009-2010. Ohio State is still an elite team but are they enough to hold off Penn State for the Big Ten championship?

Official College Football:Ole Miss Rebels
9.Ole Miss Rebels Key Game:Alabama, 10/10/09

Last year was the breakout year for the Ole Miss program as they won 9 games including wins against Florida and Texas Tech. Now the expectations are very high for Ole Miss as they are some people's favorites to challenge Florida and Alabama for the SEC crown. But is quarterback Jeveon Snead and defensive end Greg Hardy ready to lead a team that far? The Rebels are probably a top ten team but they might not have enough to go after there.
Official College Football Preview:Alabama Crimson Tide

8. Alabama Crimson Tide Key Game:Virginia Tech, 9/5/09
Last year was a dream season for the Crimson Tide. They started the season 23rd in the nation but finished 6 with wins against Clemson and Georgia. This year things look look very different. Alabama doesn't have quarterback John Parker Wilson, Glenn Coffee or Andre Smith. But, they have huge tackle Terrence Cody. And first year starting quarterback Greg McElroy has similarities compared to Colt McCoy. The Tide will not look like last year but they will challenge Florida for the SEC Championship, once again.

Official College Football Preview:Oklahoma State Cowboys
7. Oklahoma State Cowboys Key Game:Texas,10/31/09

The Cowboys have a extremely talented offense led by quarterback Zac Robinson and wideout Dez Bryant. Bryant will have to cover up for the loss of tight end Brandon Pettigrew but he can do that just fine. The thing though that has been keeping the Cowboys back is their defense. Hopefully defensive back Perrish Cox will improve his only okay coverage skills this year. If he does the Cowboys will challenge Oklahoma and Texas for the Big 12 crown. If he doesn't and the Cowboys defense is only decent they may fall back into the crowd.
Official College Football Preview:Boise State Broncos
6.Boise State Broncos Key Game:Oregon,9/3/09
Let's face it, the Broncos have one of the easiest schedules in the top 25. The toughest game will be against a talented Oregon Duck team. The Broncos have a star in Kellen Moore who could be a possible Heisman canidate if he was in a bigger school. Moore wins with his patientence and accuracy. Don't be surprised if Boise State goes undefeated in the regular season again.
