Backyard Brawl Round 2, Interesting Ivy League Showdown, Kentucky Rolls
Last night was an intersting and exciting night of hoops. In the Big East, No. 23 Pitt took on No. 4 West Virginia in the basketball edition of the Backyard Brawl. The game lasted 3 OT's until Pitt pulled away 98-95 on Ashton Gibbs' 24 points. The Mountaineers were led by De'Sean Butler who had 32 points. The Mountaineers are now 19-5 (8-4 in Big East) as the Panthers are 19-6 (8-4 in Big East).
The Cornell Big Red have had one of the most surprising teams this season. Almost upsetting Kansas and going 20-3 entering a game that should be an easy win against 3-15 Penn. Penn's Zack Rosen had 22 points and 5 assists as Penn surprised many with a 79-64 win. Penn is now 3-2 in the Ivy League as Cornell suffered their first Ivy League loss and are 6-1.
One of the best matchups this weekend No. 2 Kentucky had confidence going into a game against No. 12 Tennessee, who was coming off a horrible loss to No. 24 Vanderbilt. The Vols shut down DeMarcus Cousins who had just 5 points but couldn't stop John Wall (24 points) or Eric Bledsoe who had 16 points. Kentucky is 24-1 (9-1 in SEC) well Tennessee is 18-6 (6-4 in SEC).
