College Football Preview: 12. TCU Horned Frogs
12.TCU Horned Frogs
Key Position Players:
QB Casey Pachall- Sophomore
RB Ed Wesley- Junior
DE Stansly Maponga- Sophomore
LB Tank Carder- Senior
LB Tanner Brock- Junior
Let's face it: this is TCU. No matter what conference they're in or no matter who's on the team they win games. This year will be no different. They do lose star QB Andy Dalton but it appears sophomore Casey Pachall will replace him. Or Gary Patterson could go with more experienced junior Yogi Gallegos. Ed Wesley is the best player on the offense. He has some speed and power. Behind him Matthew Tucker and Waymon James cna run all over if given the chance. The wide outs are led by returning player Josh Boyce. They'll have to cope without Jeremy Kerley and Jimmy Young. TE Logan Brock is an okay option for Pachall. The offensive line took a big hit when tackle Marcus Cannon and center Jake Kirkpatrick left for the NFL. Jeff Olson and Kyle Dooley are the lone returners on the O-Line. The defense is still the Horned Frogs' strength. Defensive end Stansly Maponga erupted in his freshmen year and is much underrated. Though the other three linemen aren't great. The linebacker core is fantastic. Tank Carder had a hige year and a good Rose Bowl and returns. He's a hard hitter that can stuff up rushing lanes. He'll be helped by junior Tanner Brock who may be just as good. Brock's big too, and has decent speed for a 'backer. The secondary isn't great now without Tejay Johnson and other players. Cornerback Greg McCoy and safety Tekerrein Cuba are the lone returning starters. Without Kerley the special teams is just decent.
Heisman Hopeful: Ed Wesley
Mountain West Rank: 2nd
